Citizen's Advice Bureau ServicesDebt AdviceWe have caseworkers who help those who find themselves in multiple debt. People with debt problems have an initial interview with a general adviser who may then refer the matter to a caseworker if it is complicated and will take some time to resolve. Welfare Benefits AdviceCAB has caseworkers who are able to assist people with complex welfare benefits issues including reviews of decisions and preparation of appeals. This service is accessed through an initial interview with a general adviser. Disability Rights UnitThe Disability Rights Unit can help local people with their applications for Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance. Home VisitsWherever possible home visits are offered for people who are housebound and their carers. Community TrainingCAB offers a series of community training opportunities for both community groups and individuals. These training events include budgeting, dealing with debt, credit and consumer and benefit awareness. Social PolicyCAB gathers evidence of problems where legislation and policy decisions have an adverse effect on people; CAB works to influence change. This work is ongoing and benefits the whole community. |
