Moving Home
Finding a new home and moving house

Accommodation for older people

There are many types of accommodation that cater for older people, depending on the level of support or care required:

Local Council Housing Departments provide advice on many housing matters; for District and Borough Councils click housing advice.

Estate and Lettings Agents offer their services to help you find the home you are looking for. You can find these through the web-sites Up My Street and Yell (on-line Yellow Pages).

Moving Home

When you move there are many things that you have to organise (or get someone else to organise for you). You can find the names of removal companies through the Yell internet site.

Notifying your change of address

When you move home there are many people who will need to know your new address - friends and family, as well as "official" organisations. This can be a long and laborious process, but there are things that can help:

  • email - use your email to write one message with your new address and send it to all of your friends who have email.
  • web-sites which notify official organisations for you, for example I have moved and Royal Mail.
