We provide practical support to give informal carers a break by providing trained, police-checked staff to take the place of the carer for a few hours. If you need personal care then usually a referral is needed from social services however, if you do not want social services involvement then you can purchase care privately from Crossroads. If you need a sitting service then you can be referred through social services or come direct to us and the service can be provided through the Carer's Grant, although this is limited. Another service we provide is a preventative service. We can provide a support and enabling service to those elderly people who are finding it difficult to manage independently. These tasks include assisting them with light housework, accompanying them to hospital/doctors appointments or helping them with shopping. There is a cost for this service, but you may be eligible for a subsidy from social services. |
